KTM 250 SX-F becomes Austrian manufacturer’s most successful race bike

KTM 250 SX-F becomes Austrian manufacturer’s most successful race bike
For the fifteenth time in twenty seasons, a rider on board the KTM 250 SX-F has won the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship.

Italy’s Andrea Adamo was the latest in a long line of KTM riders to claim the championship which pits the very best 250cc 4-stroke machines against each other.

Ten different World Champions, one model

Adamo is the 10th different rider to win onboard the KTM 250 SX-F, since Ben Townley first did the business in 2004.

The famous KTM 250 SX-F has now won 75% of the championships it has entered, cementing its place as KTM’s most successful racing machine and proving beyond doubt that it is the leader in the MX2 format.

Easy to use with lots of power

Robert Jonas, KTM’s Vice President of Offroad Racing, cited the bike's ease of use as one of the reasons so many different riders have been successful whilst riding it:

“We want a bike that is easy to use but with a lot of power. Now that’s easy to wish for, but not so easy to do! I think we have had a consistent push to reach that.“

“We don’t want a super-rocket that nobody else can ride apart from young racers like Andrea or Liam or Sacha. If you have that easy-but-strong bike then it means you can bring guys into the team and they can immediately go fast.”

The bike that never sits still

With so much success achieved on one bike, it could be tempting to refrain from tweaking.

But KTM’s Motorsports Director, Pit Beirer, said there’s no chance of that happening, referencing the team’s forward thinking vision as one of their keys to prolonged success:

“We never stopped thinking about the next KTM 250 SX-F, and I know what is in the pipeline. We will never sit still in that class.”
