It’s only been two-ish years since KTM completely overhauled their SX and SX-F ranges, but once again our friends in Austria have packed some significant performance upgrades into the MY2025 bikes.
Improved rider control seems to have been top of the agenda for the KTM design team, so let’s take a look at what to expect when we take delivery of the 2025 KTM motocross range in July or August.
Frame tweaking
The frame has received the most thorough going over. Visible cutouts and tube-wall thickness adjustment around the front engine mounts and rear shock mounting contribute to improved chassis flex while reducing the weight by 300g.
An updated swingarm with a machined chain glider and a more durable rear brake pedal round out the upgrades to the frame.
Connectivity Unit Offroad (CUO)
KTM’s patented CUO allows riders to adjust a wide range of performance and ride comfort settings via the KTMconnect app.
Available as a KTM PowerPart for the entire 2025 KTM SX-F lineup, this unit comes in two parts, one mounted on the bars and an GPS sensor added to the front fender.
Longer lasting, better performing tyres
The entire 2025 SX and SX-F ranges now come equipped with Dunlop’s latest GEOMAX MX34 motocross tyres. A new carcass compound has been used to improve dampening and absorption, increasing the lifespan by up to 30%.
Factory racing rear suspension set up
The 2025 Motocross ranges have inherited their rear suspension setups from KTM’s championship winning factory team. The WP XACT rear shock has a new linkage with revamped seals and smaller diameter linkage bolts.

The factory racing team reported better weight savings and optimised stiffness parameters. The fork settings have also been adjusted to account for more flex and less weight.
Tank tinkering
New, bi-composite tank shrouds have been added on the upper and lower flanks, providing a sleek new look and improved cooling for both rider and engine.
An updated fuel tank roll protects the new frame against wear and creates a better fit between the two components. The new air inlet sleeve and improved snorkel design are small upgrades, but they all contribute to better rider comfort and improved confidence.
New graphics
As with all of KTM's new releases, the graphics have been updated to complement the technical upgrades. Full KTM orange bodywork, red and black in-mould graphics and a more durable black seat reflect the subtle yet significant upgrades that define KTM’s approach to the 2025 KTM SX and SX-F ranges.
Return of the KTM 150 SX
Not all the additions to KTM’s 2025 Motocross range can be filed in the subtle category. Making a long awaited return to the 2-stroke lineup is the KTM 150 SX.
Built on the foundations of KTM's ultra-successful 125 SX, the KTM 150 SX is specifically designed, modified and rearranged for riders looking for enhanced torque and livelier riding experience.

Order, test rides and delivery dates
There’s no official word from KTM when authorised dealers like ourselves will be taking delivery of the 2025 KTM SX and SX-F ranges. That said, we expect it’ll be sometime during July or August 2024.
